Nzoia Sugar FC has clarified an issue that has been circulating across social media since winning the Madaraka Day Cup.
The team, who were already relegated from the FKF Premier League, beat AFC Leopards 2-1 on the first day of the month to lift the Madaraka Day Cup and in the process won sh 500000 but there were claims that the money had not reached the players.

Another allegation was that the club included non-club officials in the list of players who were to grace the occasion for earlier planning and that the players didn’t receive their winners’ medal after the game something that the club has denied.
In a communication on Tuesday aimed at clearing the air on the allegations, Nzoia said: “There have been allegations on social media that the team provided with a list with a name of an individual who is not an official of the club and that the players who represented the club did not receive their medals and allowances.
We would like to state as follows;
- That the final list of the club presented to the planners of the event was a signed list and did not include any person who is not a member of the club officials.
- All the players, technical bench members and officials who were on the final list and who participated in the event were awarded medals and allowances for their participation.
- The names that have been circulating on social media of players purporting to have been left out during the issuance of medals and allowances were not on the final list prepared by the technical bench.
- The Prize Money of Ksh 500000 which our team won has not yet been wired to the club account. However, once that is done, the money will be shared out appropriately to cater for all players (those who took part in the cup and those who were not part of the squad), technical bench members and club officials.” The letter read in part.
