FKF Premier League Champions Gor Mahia will be representing Kenya in this year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup set for July 6-22 in Tanzania and Zanzibar.
Regional Football body has confirmed that they have invited TP Mazembe (DR Congo), Nyasa Big Bullets (Malawi) and Zambia’s Red Arrows FC to join 13 other teams from the CECAFA Zone so as to spice the competition that is always sponsored by Rwandese President Paul Kagame.

The competition was earlier planned to take place July 20th to August 4th in Tanzania. But because of the busy CAF calendar, the competition has been rescheduled so that it kicks-off earlier and ends few days before the start of the 2024/2025 CAF Club competitions.
“This competition will help our teams in the Zone prepare better in the pre-season ahead of the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup which start in August. Having top sides from DR Congo, Malawi and Zambia will also spice-up our Club competition and give our teams a real test,” CECAFA Executive Director John Auka Gecheo said.
The CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup 2024 which was meant to open the CECAFA calendar from June 29th to July 14th has also been cancelled to give players more time to prepare with their teams ahead of the CECAFA Kagame Cup.
