FKF Premier League side Sofapaka boosted their chances of staying in the Kenyan top flight following their 1-0 win over Naivas FC over the weekend in the FKFPL/NSL Playoff game.
After a goalless draw in the first half, the game was headed for a draw until Jacob Onyango popped up with the lone goal a minute from time to give his team the advantage heading to the second leg on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Dandora Stadium.
If the aggregate score is tied after regular time in the second match, the team with the greater number of away goals will be declared the winner. However, if the teams are tied on both aggregate and away goals, the match will proceed to penalties. The winner of the shootout will secure a place in next season’s top tier.
Sofapaka FC will be fighting to maintain their top-tier league status, while Naivas is seeking a chance to make their inaugural appearance in the FKFPL.
