In a statement to newsrooms on Thursday, the club admitted they have been facing operation challenges due to the rise in the cost of doing business and hence will be dropping down to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division 2 Eastern Zone under a new name in Glorious FC Kenya.
“Despite our best efforts, the club has found it challenging to operate due to the increased cost of living and the newly introduced prerequisite to participate in the National Super League, have made it increasingly difficult to continue operations at the level expected by our supporters and stakeholders,” part of their statement noted.
“Our renewed focus on youth development and preparations for the European market drives our decision to re-enter the FKF Division 2 Eastern Zone under the new name GLORIONS FC KENYA. We are committed to continuing our scouting efforts and identifying talented young players, nurturing them to achieve greater heights in their careers.”
There have been reports that Rainbow’s place in the NSL will be taken by MOFA, a club owned by Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga.
