FKF Premier League side AFC Leopards has confirmed that defender Emmanuel Lwangu has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

Lwangu was roped in by Leopards straight from school in 2022 but couldn’t manage to feature for the club in his first season after FIFA hit the club with a transfer ban but he featured last season for the club where he made ten appearances.

“Emmanuel Lwangu joined us in 2022 from Kakamega High School’s Green Commandos. He did not feature in his first season as the club was serving a transfer ban.  He made his debut in 2023: played 10 matches, featured for 615 minutes: scoring one goal. The talented 21-year-old defender has signed a 2-year contract with the club,” Leopards said in a statement.

On signing a new deal, the defender said, “It has been a privilege playing for this team for the last two years and being a rookie, I have really learned a lot from the senior and experienced players in the team on and off the pitch. I’m thrilled to have renewed my contract. It is an incredible opportunity for me. I am grateful for the trust that the club has shown in me. It is a great honor.

“I am motivated by having this opportunity to learn and grow in my career. Being part of this team allows me to challenge myself and improve my skills.”

Lwangu will be hoping that he can clock more minutes for the club this season as they look to improve on their fifth-place finish last season.
