Newly FKF Division 1 Zone B promoted club Soy United FC have started their pre-season training in preparation for the 2024/25 season.
The Likuyani-based side who recently staged a comeback to Kenya’s third-tier football league after a triumph in the Western Division 2 playoff matches in Eldoret in early July held their first training session on Tuesday at their base, Ivugwi Grounds-Soy in Kakamega county.

Soy head coach Samuel Otieno Twago provides an update that the first session was good even though he wasn’t impressed with the quorum in training as a majority of his regular assets had not jetted back to camp.
“The tuition was good as the players responded well to instructions though the attendance was not convincing because a section of my key players is yet to arrive I’m expecting the camp to be full by Thursday so that we be able to move forward together as a unit”, the former Vihiga United boss told Pepeta.
He further added that during the pre-season as a club they’ll focus on improving the tactical, physical and mental aspects of the players as well as be involved in high-profile build-up matches so that when the Division 1 fixture is unveiled, they be ready to compete effectively.
“We intend to have 6 weeks of preparation whereby we will put a shift in strengthening all the areas that seemed to have weaknesses in the previous campaign. That shall involve shaping the tactical, physical and mental part of the unit, we shall also engage in some friendly matches to gauge our levels so that when the new season kicks off, we are able to compete effectively”, he added.
Soy United formerly featured in the Betika National Super League in the 2020/21 campaign and they are the new entrants in the FKF Division One Zone B league alongside Gucha Stars FC from Kisii county.
