Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has confirmed that the club has so far signed five new players in preparations for their CAF Champions League assignment.

Gor had been scheduled to attend a preseason camp in Nigeria at the start of August but that hasn’t been the case as a section of the players are on a go slow after claiming the club owed them some money.

Rachier in a presser on Saturday came out to clear the air about the situation of the players and in the process revealed the names of the players that they have so far signed ahead of the new campaign.

The chairman confirmed that the club had roped in Harambee Stars defender Alphonse Omija who rejoins the club after featuring for their youth side; the center-back having been in the books of Dhofar in Oman. The other signing is striker Gideon Bendeka who joins from Rwandese side Etincelles.

Rachier further revealed that the club had completed the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Enock Morrison who arrives as a free agent after being dropped by Asante Kotoko; the player having attracted interest from Hearts of Oak and Tanzania Premier League side Geita Gold.

Others to have joined Gor are Samuel Kapen who arrived from Nairobi City Stars and Chris Pius Akena who arrived as a free agent after his one-year contract with Greek second-tier side Apollon Pontou FC ended in June 2024.

Gor have been paired against Al Merreikh in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League with the first leg set for Sunday 18th August.
