“John Kamau rejoins Mathare United as head coach,” a statement from the club noted. “Mathare United is pleased to confirm that John Kamau has rejoined the club as head coach for a second spell. The former Posta Rangers and KCB head coach first led the team during the second leg of the 2021/22 campaign, a season that would ultimately be declared null and void.”

Kamau rejoins Mathare after a stint with Posta Rangers where he had a brilliant start last season only to fall off the way as the season progressed.

According to Mathare, Kamau will be joined by Mohammed Muchula, Dismimas Omnyango and Ambrose Oriko in a new look technical bench.

“Joining Kamau as part of our new-look technical unit are Mohammed Muchula, Dismas Onyango, and Ambrose Oriko. Muchula, who most recently served as an assistant coach with Mombasa Stars, will reprise this role and work as Kamau’s first assistant. Onyango, who stepped away from the team last season, returns as Trainer while Oriko is our new team Physiotherapist,” Mathare said.

Mathare have been in their preseason ahead of their league opener against AFC Leopards on Saturday 24th August, 2024.
