Peter Oluoch, the father of reigning FKF Premier League top scorer Benson Omala, has revealed that his son was taken to Lebanon by Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat.

Omala shocked most fans earlier this week when it was revealed that he had sealed a move to Lebanon’s top-flight side Safa Spoost with fans worried about his step as the Government of Kenya had given a directive to evacuate Kenyans from the same nation due to an impending war with Israel.

Speaking to the Nation, Oluoch however was ecstatic about the move stating that it has always been his child’s dream to play abroad so as to better his financial chest.

“Firat is the one who took my son there. He previously had an agent, but they parted ways. I am not concerned that anyone will exploit him for financial gain. This is his third day in Lebanon and I’m impressed that my son has finally got a chance to play outside the country. This has been his dream because playing professional football is an indicator that one can go far in his football career,” Oluoch said.

“My son wanted to have a big career growth in his football and to establish himself in terms of earning power. Playing outside Kenya will give him that.”

Omala had been linked with a move to Algeria in June this year but the deal fell through in the last minutes and will now be on his second club outside the country after a short stint with FC Linkoping City in Sweden.
