AFC Leopards head coach Thomas Trucha believes they were unlucky after going 0-1 down to Posta Rangers in round two of FKF Premier League action.

While admitting that they didn’t expect an easy game against Rangers, Truch said they were the better team in the duel.

“We didn’t expect an easy game. Posta Rangers is a team that focuses on good defense and waits for counters. I believe that we handled that in most of the game. I believe they had one shot on target and maybe two or three off-targets. We were better than them for 97 minutes,” Trucha said after the game.

Trucha went ahead to castigate his strikers for failing to utilize their chances stating that even the goal came after his defence lost concentration.

“We should score the goals. We had a lot of chances, a lot of free kicks, a lot of corners, so we should have used them better,” he added. “It’s (the goal) a 1v1 situation, so from that point of view, we should be closer to the player and should have stopped the attack earlier like we did in other situations.

“Our problem was scoring. I don’t feel we deserved to lose this game; we deserved to win. Sometimes it’s just not your day, or you don’t have luck, and our opponent had one chance and they scored.”

The loss however is already behind the coach as he continues to work for better results in the coming days.

“I believe that we are a strong team, a big team, so we should show everybody that this is not a good result for us. We should come to the Bidco game with a response,” he added.

Leopards will now turn their focus to their next fixture which is against Bidco United who are having an unbeaten start to the season.
