Kibera Soccer head coach David Vijago is eyeing promotion with his team after a perfect start to the FKF Division One season.

The team has won their first two matches, and Vijago, whose team has been in the same tier for four years, believes they have what it takes to get promoted.

“It’s a good start. We’ve never had such a start. It’s our fourth time in Division One, and winning two games in a row is our first time. I hope the boys will continue with the good run. Our target is to get promoted,” Vijago opined.

The club’s recent success has come from significant squad changes. The team made a tough decision to release several players due to disciplinary issues, bringing in 14 new faces to strengthen their squad for the promotion push.

“We dropped several players due to indiscipline cases, and that’s what necessitated us signing 14 new players which is a big number but it’s worth it so far,” Vijago explained.

In their most recent outing, Kibera faced Marafiki FC a newly promoted side. The match was closely contested. However, Kibera Soccer managed to secure a late winner at Dandora Stadium.

“Marafiki is a good side, and they have a good coach. We had a good game against them though the surface at Dandora was a bit slippery. We scored the winner in the dying minutes of the game. Going into our next game, we are hopeful for a win to continue this momentum,” the coach added.

Next up for Kibera Soccer is a match against Spitfire FC, set for Saturday, 12th October, at Sina Makosa Stadium from 3pm.
