Defending champions Gor Mahia have welcomed back Ronney Onyango after suspending him for two weeks for misconduct.

The club had suspended Onyango following an altercation with head coach Léo Neiva during their CAF Champions League match against Egyptian giants Al Ahly in Egypt. The incident led to Onyango being dropped from the squad just hours before the second leg encounter.

Speaking to Mozzart Sports, Gor Mahia’s CEO Raymond Oruo confirmed the player’s reinstatement, saying, “Onyango appeared before the disciplinary committee as requested and all the issues raised by the coach were addressed. After that, he was asked to apologise to the head coach, who accepted his apology and allowed him to train with the team.”

Coach Léo Neiva also confirmed that the player has been reintegrated into the team and is available for selection for their upcoming match.

“Ronney Onyango is back with us and will be available for selection when we play KCB,” Neiva said.

In addition to apologizing to the head coach, Onyango was also instructed to apologise to his teammates as part of the reconciliation process.

Onyango’s return comes at a crucial time as the team prepares to host KCB FC today at Dandora Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 3 p.m.

Alongside Onyango, Kevin Juma, another player who had been sidelined, returned to action last weekend after resolving his issues with the club.
