Ulinzi Stars came from a goal down to hold Tusker FC to a 1-1 draw in a FKF Premier League staged in the early afternoon of Wednesday 23rd October 2024 at the Police Sacco Stadium.

Ulinzi started the game brilliantly and had been handed a perfect opportunity to take the lead just minutes after the hour mark after the referee pointed to the spot. Yakeen Mutheli had delivered a brilliant cross for captain Boniface Muchiri whose shot was handled by Collins Odhiambo in the Tusker defence. The duty to put the soldiers ahead from the spot was handed to Hillary Simiyu but he hit his effort off the crossbar.

The miss was duly punished by Tusker ten minutes later when captain Charles Momanyi put the Charles Okere in the lead after being teed by Saphan Siwa for a 1-0 lead heading into the half-time break.

Ulinzi wasted no time in making the changes after the break with Brian Kafero, brought on for his debut, for Javan Omondi. The change seemed to have been a masterstroke by coach Dustan Nyaudo as Kafero was to restore parity just three minutes after coming on.

Both teams made changes with Tusker upping the tempo towards the end of the game with Sylvian Ricks forced to pull a brilliant save to deny Jacob Onyango in one of the best chances of the half but the soldiers held on for a point.

In another game played earlier in the day at the Sportpesa Arena, Daniel Agofa’s goal deep in stoppage time was all Bidco United needed to beat Kariobangi Sharks 1-0 and record their first win of the season.
