Nairobi City Stars came from a goal down to beat Gor Mahia 2-1 in an FKF Premier League match staged at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos on Monday 28th October 2024.
Gor Mahia had made five changes from the team that had been held by KCB FC in their last outing with Dolph Owino getting his first start in the club colours as a keeper to replace Gad Mathew. Another notable addition to the team was captain Philemon Otieno who was part of a new look defence.

Five of Gor players are currently with the national team with the lot including Austin Odhiambo who has been an influential figure in the team.
The changes seem not to have troubled Gor as they were to take the lead after 23 minutes through an unlikely source in Levin Odhiambo; his first goal in the colours of Gor Mahia following his move from Tusker FC midway last season.
While Gor went to the break in the lead, Robinson Asenwa was to put City Stars levelled on the hour mark before Dennis Oalo gave them the lead eight minutes later in a much improved second half for the Nicholas Muyoti-coached side.
There was an additional seven minutes in the game where City Stars held on for the three points despite finishing the game with ten men following the sending off of Edwin Buliba in the 89th minute.
The loss left Gor placed ninth on the table with seven points after four games with City now out of the relation zone to 14th with five points; this being their first win of the season.
Next for Gor Mahia in a home tie against Murang’a Seal with City having to travel to Kisii to face Shabana FC.
