Kariobangi Sharks have confirmed injury setbacks for two of their key players, affecting the team as they approach a crucial period of the season.

The club has released an update detailing the conditions of striker Ally Salum and Midfielder Keith Imbali; the duo joining midfielder Biron Otieno who has been missing in action for close to one month now.

Salum who has been a revelation for the William Muluya-coached side in his debut season in the Kenyan top-flight league, will be out for six weeks after suffering a Grade 2 medial collateral ligament (MCL) strain.

The Tanzanian absence, following his impressive start with three goals in two games, will be a significant loss for the team’s attacking efforts.

Imbali also faces a six-week recovery period after sustaining an avulsion fracture of the posterior malleolus. Known for his role in controlling the game’s tempo, Imbali’s injury is a setback for the team’s midfield lineup.

The duo joins another key player Otieno who featured in all matches for Kariobangi Sharks last season but has been injured since October 21st 2024 during their match against AFC Leopards. Otieno sustained a closed proximal 1/3 radius and ulna fracture, requiring an open reduction and internal fixation. The procedure was successful, and he is expected to be out of action for approximately 12 weeks, extending Sharks’ challenges in maintaining midfield stability.

The absence of Salum, Imbali, and Otieno puts pressure on the team’s bench, requiring others to step up and cover the gaps left by these influential players.
