Maurice Ojwang’ scored virtually with the last kick of the game as KCB FC were forced to dig deep to beat FC Talanta 2-1 in an FKF Premier League game staged at Dandora Stadium on Friday 22nd November 2024.

Before the game, KCB had presented the Player of the Month award for October to James Kinyanjui and the former Mathare United didn’t disappoint in his display.  There was a return of keeper Faruk Shikhalo in goal after his outing with the national team with coach Patrick Odhiambo handing Rodgers Oporia his debut in the banker’s colours.

Kinyanjui was to assist Francis Kahiro’s opener in the 18th minute in what was the player’s sixth goal of the season; the goal being the difference as both teams headed for the halftime break.

Talanta had a much improved second half with keeper Mustapha Oduor giving a good account for himself. Despite changes from both sides, Talanta deservingly restored parity in the 90th minute through Emmanuel Osoro.

And just as they thought they had earned a point, Kinyanjui was to pop up with an assist in the seventh minute of added time when his floated free kick was headed in by Maurice Ojwang’.

With the win, the bankers are now on 20 points, five above Mara Sugar who have played a game less. For FC Talanta, their search for a second win of the season will be postponed for another time as they might find themselves sitting at the bottom of the table should Posta Rangers win this weekend.

KCB will be up against Kenya Police FC in round 10 in a week that will see Talanta come face-to-face with Ulinzi Stars.
