Sofapaka FC’s struggles against Murang’a Seal persisted as they fell to a 1-0 loss in their latest FKF Premier League clash at Dandora Stadium, extending their winless streak against the newcomers to three games.
A second-half penalty by Joseph Irungu proved decisive, sealing the maximum points for Murang’a Seal in a tightly contested encounter.

The match began on a promising note for Sofapaka, with Ronald Ssempala missing three clear-cut chances within the opening 12 minutes. A well-timed pass from Benjamin Mosha in the 9th minute saw Ssempala fire wide, followed by a mistimed header from Baron Ochieng’s cross just a minute later. In the 12th minute, Ssempala failed to connect with Rodgers Kipkemoi’s inviting cutback, leaving Sofapaka to rue their early missed opportunities.
Murang’a Seal took the lead in the 59th minute through a penalty converted by Joseph Irungu. The spot-kick was awarded after Sofapaka goalkeeper Brandon was adjudged to have committed a foul resembling a slap on an opponent in the box. The incident drew comparisons to a similar foul involving Tusker’s Jacob Onyango in a previous league match against Police Fc.
Sofapaka attempted to mount a response but were kept at bay by Murang’a Seal’s resilient defence. Dennis Munyovi missed a golden opportunity to double the lead for Murang’a Seal in a one-on-one situation with Sofapaka’s keeper. Moments later, Sofapaka’s Victor Okello produced a heroic goal-line clearance to keep his side in the game.
As Sofapaka piled on the pressure in the dying moments with a corner after the other, Murang’a Seal goalkeeper Morgan Ambuka made several crucial saves to deny the hosts a last-minute equalizer. His efforts ensured the visitors held onto their slim advantage, securing a third consecutive victory over Sofapaka in their head-to-head meetings.
