Kisumu AllStars head coach Charles Bruno is confident that the team will do well despite the withdrawal of their main sponsors.

On Thursday, the County Government of Kisumu, the team’s main sponsor, announced that they were cutting ties with the team but Bruno has sent a rallying call to the lovers of the club not to be sad.

In a statement posted on the club’s Facebook account, Bruno said,” I don’t want to say it’s a sad day because it’s not. First and foremost, we are alive, and we should be grateful for that. My phone has been buzzing non-stop, and I understand why, but I want to emphasize that this is not a sad day. Everyone associated with this amazing club—our players, my technical team, our fans, and even our immediate family and friends—should not be sad.

“We have come a long way, not just as a team but as the Otenga Family. Throughout this journey, we have faced challenges and overcome them because we stood together as one. Right now, I can only imagine the emotions and anxiety running through everyone connected to this beautiful club, not just here in Kenya but all over the world.

“I might not have the perfect words for this moment, but as a leader, I know a lot is expected from me, and I have always given my best since the day I was entrusted with this role. This club allowed me to do what I love, and in return, it has given me immense support. My players and staff have stood by me, and no amount of money can repay that.

“To my players, I urge you to stay focused. I know it’s a lot to ask, but I also know how mentally strong you are, so I am not worried.”

“We have a match on Sunday in Machakos against Naivas FC. It’s always an entertaining fixture, and I’m looking forward to it. We showed up today in high spirits, and we will continue to do so until the very last game. For those who know me, I don’t like to speak much, and now is not the time or place. My focus remains on preparing the boys for the upcoming matches, and I will continue to do just that.

“To our amazing fans, thank you for everything. Thank you for getting us this far. We are stronger together, so keep supporting the boys. Otenga will fly!”
