AFC Leopards are out of the ODMat20 tournament after being denied by their former goalkeeper Levis Opiyo in post match penalties.
In a game that was used to commemorate 20 years of existence of the Orange Democratic Party (ODM), Opiyo seems to have prepared well for his former employers in a clash that staged at Mombasa’s Mbaraki Stadium.

Opiyo was to deny Victor Omune from close range in the first real chance of the game after his former teammate had linked up well with Tyson Otieno. Bandari had a response of their own as they looked for the elusive goal with David Sakwa, who missed a call up to the national team this time, shooting wide in the earlier proceedings.
In a game that was proving to be hard for both sides with few clear cut chance, there was no one to get the better of the other in the first half with the same outing being mirrored in the second half something that forced the game into post-match penalties.
In the shootout, Opiyo saved Kelly Madada’s effort with James Kinyanjui, who was previously in the books of Bandari, hitting the crossbar to the jubilation of the home fans.
The win will be a relief for new Bandari head coach Mohamed Borji who has come under scrutiny in the football circles this week with many having questioned his coaching credential. The win will see the Dockers meet the winner between Gor Mahia and Shabana in the competition’s final.
