Kenyan striker Vincent Oburu has been handed a three-year deal by Zambian giants Zesco United.

The former Wazito FC striker had been handed a six months loan deal by the club last year as they wanted to gauge his abilities before handing him a permanent contract.

In a statement, the club said: “ZESCO United Football Club is delighted to announce that Kenyan International striker, Vincent Oburu has signed a three-year contract. Oburu 24, has extended his stay at ZESCO United after initially signing a short-term contract with the Zambian League giants.

“The versatile Kenyan international striker became a darling of the ZESCO United faithful, scoring his first goal for the club in an explosive encounter against Nkana.”

The player however suffered an injury towards the end of last season but it did less in stopping the club from handing him a deal.

Speaking about the deal, the club head coach Numba Mumamba said: “We are very happy as a technical bench because the period that we gave Oburu to prove himself, he did wonders. We only hope that what he showed us is what he will give us in the upcoming season and in CAF competition.”

Zesco will be aiming to mount a strong comeback in the domestic league and an improved performance in CAF after missing the title last season.
