Swedish giants AIK has loaned out striker Henry Atola Meja to the country’s third-tier side AFC Eskilstuna for the rest of the season.

Meja joins his Kenyan compatriot Frank Odhiambo who moved to the club on a loan deal from IF Djugardens.

Meja who spent last season on loan at Norrby IF has already scored goals for his new side in preseason and was on the mark in the club’s recent friendly against IK Sleipner; this coming after he bagged a hat-trick against Nyköping BIS.

“I think I got off to a good start and managed to score a number of goals,” Meja said of his new home. “The goals increase both self-confidence and motivation. We work really well as a team, the players already understand each other’s style of play, which makes it easier to find each other. We have good training, which means we can create more goal chances together.”

Meja moved to AIK in 2021 from FKF Premier League side Tusker FC but has found games hard to come by. AIK had hoped that he would get more playing time at Norrby this season and things were going according to plan before picking up an injury that kept him out for the better part of last season.
