After almost a year without a club, Harambee Stars winger Wilkims Ochieng has signed with Belgiun side Royal Francs Borains for an undisclosed period.

Ochieng’s last action was with Slovenia side FC Koper where he left in July 2023; the winger, who featured for Belgium youth side, set to officially begin work with his new side on July 1st, 2024.

Speaking during his unveiling, the player who can feature in a number of positions in attack said: “The RFB gives me the chance to return to high level. I will give my all and do everything for the club that has given me this chance to be able to show my qualities. I already feel good in this welcoming group.

“When I arrived in Belgium, we settled in Havre where I started playing football. I now live in Saint-Ghislain, a few minutes from the stadium. Finding the high level in your region is a chance.”

Founded in 1949, Royal Francs Borains (RFB) is a football club based in Boussu, Hainaut Province, Belgium. They play their home matches at the 6000 capacity Stade Robert Urbain and used green and white as their main colours.

They feature in the Challenger Pro League (the nation’s second tier) where they just finished 14th in the 16-team league in the 2023/24 season after amassing just 28 points in 30 games.

Ochieng who had one goal in his four appearances for the Belgium U16 national team, began his career with the youth academy of Mouscron before moving to Club Brugge in 2017, where he was later promoted to the senior team in January 2020. He was to move to Slovenian PrvaLiga side Koper in January 2023 where he signed a two year deal but cut his stay short after just a year.

In November 2021, he was handed his maiden call up to the Harambee Stars team by head coach Engin Firat for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Uganda and Rwanda.
