Tanzania intranational striker Kelvin John has joined Danish side AaB on a four-year deal the club has confirmed.

John has been in the books of Belgian giants KRC Genk and has consistently played for their youth team where he scored four goals in 41 games.

“On a free transfer, AaB secured the arrival of attacking talent Kelvin John from Belgian KRC Genk,” AaB said in a statement. “The 20-year-old national team player from Tanzania has spent three years at the Belgian club, where Kelvin John has mainly appeared for Jong Genk in the second-best Belgian series with 41 official matches, four goals and eight assists as a result.”

AaB’s sporting director Ole Jan Kappmeier said of the signing: “Kelvin John is a breakthrough player who we believe can develop further at AaB. He has speed, is a good dribbler and is thus strong one on one, and we see him as an exciting addition to our squad, says Ole Jan Kappmeier.

On his side, the player added; “I have been very much looking forward to becoming part of AaB, and I am happy that it has fallen into place, so that I can put on AaB’s red and white shirt after the summer break and step into the beautiful stadium.

“The very first time AaB showed interest, I was determined to come here, and through my conversations with the club I have gotten a good impression of the setup and not least the style of play that the club wants to practice, and it suits me perfectly. I hope that with my speed, my zeal in the re-press and my winning mentality I can help the team week after week and at the same time develop as a player in the Super League, says Kelvin John.”

The player who has been handed jersey number 27 six international caps for Tanzania.
