Arsenal has confirmed that midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga has joined La Liga side Sevilla on a season-long loan.

A statement from the club noted: “Sambi Lokonga has joined La Liga side Sevilla on a season-long loan. The 24-year-old midfielder spent last season on loan with Luton Town, where he made 17 Premier League appearances in the Hatters’ first season back in top-flight football for over 30 years. Sambi became an integral part of the Luton team during the season, producing strong performances throughout the campaign for Rob Edwards’ side.”

Since joining Arsenal in July 2021 from Anderlecht, Sambi has made 39 Gunners appearances in all competitions, including featuring in 12 of our first 13 Premier League matches of his debut season. Sambi also spent some time on loan with Crystal Palace for the second half of the 2022/2023 campaign, to help steer the Eagles to safety.

The Athletic further reports that Sevilla holds an option to buy the player for a fee in the region of €12million. If the Laliga side activates the purchase option, Arsenal will keep a 25 per cent sell-on clause of any future move Lokonga makes.
