Premier League giants Manchester United are closing on the signing of defender Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.
According to fussball.news, both parties have reached an agreement on the player’s personal terms, but financial specifics are yet to be finalised.

The 23-year-old defender is expected to sign a five-year contract with United, potentially extending until 2029. Talks between the clubs have been positive, yet a final agreement is pending. United are prepared to pay €50 million, but the exact structure of the deal, including bonuses and payment terms, remains unresolved.
De Ligt’s arrival could be part of a significant personnel overhaul at Old Trafford, with Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain and Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna also targeted to bolster the squad in defence, midfield, and attack, respectively. United are also aid to be keen on signing Leny Yoro of Lille even though the player prefers to move to Real Madrid.
If Yoro joins United, he could either complement De Ligt as a backup defender or potentially arrive on a free transfer when his contract expires next season.
Erik ten Hag previously worked with De Ligt at Ajax, where he developed a deep understanding of the defender’s strengths.
