Sofapaka FC right-back Baron Ochieng is on the verge of completing a move to Swedish top-flight side Vasteras SK.

The player has been a subject of speculation since his late call-up to the Harambee Stars team in their last outing in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Ivory Coast and Burundi but his club has put all the speculation to rest by revealing where he is headed to next.

In a statement on their social media handles, the 2009 FKF Premier League Champions said; “Baron Ochieng will be off to Sweden in a few days’ time! Join us in wishing our star boy all the best ahead as he chases his dream to play in the Allsvenskan with Västerås SK.

“Our club remains development-oriented when it comes to providing football development opportunities for our talented young footballers to maximise their personal progression both on and off the pitch. All the best Baron.”

The player who is being handled by RMJ Sports Management has a year left on his contract and Sofapaka are eligible to get a fee from his sale should the deal go through.

While Ochieng has always shown his prowess in his previous teams, his limelight shown in the 2023 CECAFA Under 18 Tournament where Kenya was runners up in the tournament that was hosted in Kisumu, Kenya.

Earlier this year, he was one of the players promoted from the Under 18 side to the Under 20 team when Salim Babu named his team for the Four Nations Invitation Tournament where each country was asked to provide an Under 20 team.

Apart from Sofapaka, the defender has previously featured for Kibera Black Patriots, Dimba Patriots and Kesa Soka Academy. He is a graduate of the famous Dagoretti High School.
