Negotiations between Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli over the transfer of Victor Osimhen have reached a stumbling block.

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in a deal to sign Osimhen having made the forward their top target to replace Kylian Mbappe, following the latter’s free transfer move to Real Madrid.

Osimhen is open to the move after four seasons at Napoli, in which the Nigerian has scored 76 goals in 133 appearances. The 25-year-old has reached an agreement with Napoli to allow him to leave this summer after the club failed to secure European qualification in 2023-24.

However, following initial talks between PSG and Napoli, there has been no advancement on a potential transfer. PSG are reluctant to meet Osimhen’s €130m (£109m) release clause, while the French champions have rejected a request from Napoli to include South Korean midfielder Kang-in Lee as part of the package.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the transfer will not happen under those conditions, with PSG prepared to proceed into the new campaign with Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani as their centre-forward options if an agreement can not be reached.

Osimhen has also been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea, after admitting a Premier League transfer was his ‘dream’ last season, but the London duo have also shown no willingness to meet Napoli’s demands at this stage.
