Harambee Stars goalkeeper Ian Otieno has crossed over to the South Africa premier Soccer League where he has signed with Richards Bay FC.
Otieno joins the club from Zesco United and has signed a two-year deal and arrives to replace Jackson Mabokgwane, who recently left the club.
In confirming the arrival of the shot stopper, Richards Bay said,” Richards Bay Football Club would like to welcome Goalkeeper Ian Otieno from Kenya, Otieno previously played for Zesco United in Zambia.”
The move to South Africa marks Otieno’s departure from Zambia where he had been for the past seven years after representing Zesco United and Red Arrows.
Attention for Otiwno now will be to fight for a starting place in the team where he has PSL goalkeepers Toaster Nsabata and Mwenya Chibwe to compete with for the number one position at the club.
Richards Bay, who previously was home to Kenyan winger Ochieng’ Ovela, managed to secure their place in the South Africa top through the PSL promotion and relegation playoffs staged last month against the University of Pretoria and Baroka FC.
