Kenyan striker Josephat Lopaga has moved to Naftan Novopolotsk on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Lopago has been in the book of Belarus side Dinamo Brest for the past one year but has barely cemented a starting place in the team something that has necessitated his loan move as he seeks to have more playing time, Pepeta has learnt.

He leaves Brest having managed five goals in 23 appearances he managed for the club; the player only managing 6 starts at the club.

Lopago moves to a team who are currently struggling in the Belarus Premier League as Naftan are currently placed 13th in the 16th team league having collected just 15 points after 15 games;the team is currently just a position off the playoff spot.

Founded 61 years ago, Naftan plays their home games at the Atlant Stadium. They use blue as their home colours and white as their away colours. They have the Belarusian Cup twice in their history; in 2009 and 2012. They have participated in the UEFA Europa League in the years they won the Cup but didn’t sail past the Second Qualifying Round.

Lopago has previously featured for AFC Leopards and Posta Rangers in the Kenyan top flight and had a short stint with Oman side Dhofar at the start of 2023.

Lopaga landed his first-ever call-up to the national team, the Harambee Stars, for the COSAFA Cup that was staged in South Africa in June 2024.
