Reigning FKF Premier League top scorer Benson Omala has left Gor Mahia for Lebabon top-tier side Al Safa FC on a one year deal.
Omala has been a key player for Gor in the past three seasons and leaves the Kenyan giants having bagged 19 goals in the 2023/24 season.

Confirming the arrival of the player, Safa said: “Al-Safa FC announce the signing of Kenyan head striker, Benson Umala (23 years old), who hails from Kenyan Gor Mahia club Nairobi, to boost the squad’s lines for the 2024-2025 season.”
“Benson Omala has played for both Western Stima and Gor Mahia in Kenya, as well as professional with Swedish club Linkoping City, and participated in two CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League tournaments during his career with Kenyan clubs, he is Kenya’s first striker.
“Omala has a strong scoring ratio, having played in 34 Kenyan league games in the last two seasons and scored 45 goals, his speed, attacking skill, and is able to save chances and score goals.”
The move comes just months after the striker had a failed deal with Algerian side JS Saoura despite Gor having announced the move.
Established in 1939, Safa who hosts their matches at the 4000-seater capacity Al Safa SC Stadium finished fourth last season in the Championship Round with 26 points.
