Mathare United have continued with their squad revamp after announcing the arrival of keeper Michael Wanyika from Ulinzi Stars.
The shot-stopper joined the Soldiers from Bandari FC at the start of last season with head coach Anthony Kimani who has since left the club and now joins the John Kamau side on a season-long loan deal.

“Mathare United is delighted to announce the acquisition of goalkeeper Michael Wanyika on a season-long deal,” Mathare said in a post. “The immediate former Ulinzi Stars custodian adds much-needed experience as we return to the Premier League after a season in the National Super League (NSL).”
Wanyika isn’t new to the Kenyan top flight having been around for ten years after and lined up for Thika United (defunct) and Kakamega Homeboyz previously.
“Wanyika has played in the top flight for the last 10 seasons since debuting for Thika United in the 2013/14 season. Apart from Ulinzi Stars and Thika United, he has also lined up for Vegpro FC where he began his career as well as Kakamega Homeboyz and Bandari FC,” Mathare continued.
While he is yet to get a cap with the national team, he has severally been called to the national team setup with his last coming in 2019 when Kenya was preparing for the CHAN Championship Qualifiers against Tanzania.
