Harambee Stars defender Brian Mandela has joined South Africa Premier Soccer League side Stellenbosch Football Club.
In a confirmation of the move, the club said: “Stellenbosch Football Club is pleased to announce that the Club has acquired the services of Kenyan international defender, Brian Onyango, on a free transfer.

“The 30-year-old arrives with a wealth of experience to his name and boasts a track record of over 200 career appearances in South African football across previous spells with Mamelodi Sundowns, Maritzburg United, and Santos.”
Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie said; “Brian is a player who has enjoyed great success during his career and we are looking forward to adding his experience and winning mentality to our squad. He has been brought in to bolster our defensive line and we do not doubt that he will make a valuable contribution towards both our domestic and continental ambitions.”
Onyango who will wear jersey number 2 at the club arrives to replace captain Deano van Royen who moved to Orlando Pirates. He joins a club that finished third in the South Africa top flight last season and sailed to the preliminary round of the CAF Confederations Cup after thrashing eSwatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs 8-0 on aggregate to set up a meeting with AS Vita of DR Congo.
