Ulinzi Stars head coach Dunstan Nyaudo has outlined his strategy for the upcoming mid-season transfer window, emphasizing that the club will make only two key signings.

Speaking after his team’s narrow 1-0 victory over Mara Sugar at Dandora Stadium, Nyaudo detailed his recruitment priorities which included a striker.

“This transfer window, we are going to sign only two players: a striker because we’ve been creating so many chances and not scoring, and also a defensive midfielder to add to what we already have,” he stated.

Ulinzi Stars secured their fourth win of the season courtesy of Staphord Odhiambo’s 79th-minute header from Boniface Muchiri’s expertly delivered free kick. The victory lifted the team to 14th on the FKF Premier League table, with 19 points from 16 matches.

Reflecting on the team’s earlier struggles, Nyaudo attributed the challenges to integrating a large number of players who were previously playing in lower leagues. However, he expressed confidence in their progress and adaptation to the demands of top-flight football.

“The boys are growing. Most of them came from lower divisions — Division Two, regional leagues — except maybe two who had been in the top flight. None of them had even played in the Super League (2nd tier), so their growth takes time,” Nyaudo explained.

With the soldiers showing signs of improvement, the addition of a striker and a defensive midfielder could provide the much-needed boost to climb further up the league standings.
