Lebanese side Al Safa SC has omitted the name of Harambee Stars striker Benson Omala in their new roster of players for the 2024/25 season.

Safa, just as any Lebanese top-flight team, had to halt their season following the war that broke between the country and Israel late last year but the league is set to resume this weekend with the club having been back in camp since December 2024.

In revealing their new team for the season, the club confirmed that they will be represented by six strikers including Islam Batran, Ali Kassas, Jeroma Etame, Ali Haidar, Hussein Haidar and Ali El Fadel for the season.

Omala had joined the club in August last year but didn’t feature in any competitive game as the war broke just weeks after joining the club and had to return home for national team duty; he hasn’t gone back since and has been keeping fit with local teams.

There have been reports that Gor Mahia would want their striker back on a loan deal when the short midseason window opens to boost their attacking options as they look to defend their league title.

Safa will be taking Reyady Abaseya on Sunday 26th January 2025 as they look to build on their opening-day win against Racing Beirut.
