Uganda U20 captain Brian Toto Majub has secured a major move to Major League Soccer’s (MLS) NEXT Pro league, signing with Atlanta United for the 2025 season.
The promising defender is one of seven new signings for the American side, joining a group of exciting young talents ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Majub, who had an outstanding year in 2024, follows in the footsteps of his former Uganda U20 teammate, Allan Oyirwoth, who recently signed with the New England Revolution in MLS. The young defender’s move to Atlanta United marks the next step in what has been an impressive career trajectory.
The 2024 season proved to be a breakthrough year for Majub, who led Amus College School to a historic victory at the FEASSA (Federation of East African Secondary Schools Sports Associations) Boys’ Football Championship. His leadership helped the school secure their first-ever FEASSA trophy, edging past St Mary’s Kitende with a 1-0 win in Bukedea.
Majub’s performances also earned him a spot in Amus College’s historic journey to the ISF Schools Football World Cup, where they represented Uganda at the prestigious tournament in Dalian, China. The team made history as the first-ever East African side to win silver at the event where Amus College lost to the hosts in a tense penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in normal time.
In addition to his success at the school level, Majub captained the Uganda U20 side, the Hippos, during the 2024 CECAFA region AFCON Qualifiers in Tanzania, solidifying his reputation as one of Uganda’s brightest young talents.
Majub, who had already signed a pre-contract with Atlanta United 2 in July 2024, has already had the opportunity to familiarize himself with the club’s setup.
Alongside Majub, Atlanta United also signed six other players: Patrick Weah, Moises Tablante, Salvatore Mazzaforre, Ryan Carmichael, Arif Kovac, and Santiago Pita. All seven newcomers will be looking to make an impact when the MLS NEXT Pro season kicks off on February 12th, 2025.
