FKF Premier League side Mathare United has confirmed the signing of John Nyawir and Ian Omondi ahead of the second half of the season.

Winger Nyawir joins from National Super League side SamWest Blackboots on a two-and-a-half-year deal with Omondi arriving from league rivals FC Talanta signing the same duration as Nyawir.

Nyawir, formerly with Rainbow FC, began his pro career at Gor Mahia, where he broke into the senior team under then-coach Vaz Pinto and went on to be part of two Premier League title successes.

“I am privileged to be joining the team. My work now is to score and provide for my teammates and help the team finish in a better position,” the winger said during his official unveiling by the club.

Omondi, a former Leads United player, made his top-flight debut with Talanta and leaves after two and a half years with the Communications Authority team. In this season, he has featured in nine league matches and was a second-half substitute in Mathare’s 2-0 victory over Talanta in the first leg.

The duo are the second and third signings for the Slum Boyz after the arrival of Peter Oudu earlier in the transfer window.
