Harambee Stars defender Frank Odhiambo is set to join Swedish third-tier side IF Karlstad for the 2025 season.

Odhiambo is in the books of the country’s top-flight side Djugardens IF, where he joined in 2022, but is yet to feature for the first team having spent the last two seasons on loan deals.

The 22-year-old has been Karlstad during the preseason and according to their sporting Director Thomas Anderson, the deal to bring the Kenyan is done and is now awaiting the required paperwork to be ratified.

“Frank Odhiambo will play in the black and blue on loan next season. He feels good here. I spoke with Bosse (Andersson, sports director at Djurgården) last week and we agreed on everything (concerning the loan deal). Everything is clear except that the relevant papers must be signed,” Thomas told NWT.

The former Gor Mahia defender spent last year on loan at AFC Eskilstuna, scoring one goal in 23 games in the top flight. He has a contract with Djurgården until the 2026 season.

Since joining Djurgården from Gor Mahia FC in 2022, Odhiambo has been on loan at IFK Haninge, Vasalund IF and AFC Eskilstuna.

Karlstad who finished in sixth place in the league last season, has been home to another Kenyan before having signed defender Eugene Asike in 2022.
