FKF Premier League side Mathare United have confirmed the signing of midfielder Musa Masika from league rivals Gor Mahia.

Masika, who has had less game time recently at Gor, joins on a deal until the end of the season as the Slum Boys work on maintaining their top-flight status having spent last season in the National Super League.

“The club is pleased to confirm that Kenyan international Musa Masika has put pen to paper on a short-term deal until the end of the season,” Mathare said in a statement on Friday morning. “The attacking midfielder joins from Gor Mahia, with whom he won the league title last season.”

Masika’s move to Mathare might have been influenced by coach John Kamau who handled him in the Kenya Under 20 team previously and joins a number of his previous teammates at Wazito FC.

“Masika, who has also represented KCB and Wazito, links up with head coach John Kamau, whom he played under with the Kenyan Under 20 team. Aside from the gaffer, the Laiser Hill Alumnus also links up with Mohammed Kilume, Eric Mulu and Elli Asieche, his former teammates at both Wazito and KCB,” Mathare added in their statement.

Masika will be hoping to hit the ground running for his new team starting with this weekend’s tie against Murang’a Seal.
