Harambee Stars defender Johnstone Omurwa is set to complete a move to Azerbaijan Premier League side Kapaz FC for the remainder of the season.

Omurwa has been in the books of Saudi Arabia First Division side Abha FC but has barely played with Pepeta learning that the defender had requested to find a club where he could play regularly.

Though the loan deal is yet to be ratified, the needed paperwork is in place with the centre-back expected to join his new teammates after representing Kenya in the forthcoming 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Gabon and Gambia where he was named in the provisional squad for the doubleheader.

Omurwa moved to Abha in September 2024 as a free player after Portuguese top-flight side Estrela Amadora failed to renew his deal.  At Abha, he only managed 15 games (one in the King’s Cup and 14 in the league) clocking a total of 1335 minutes.

Should he move to Kapa, he will be hoping to help the club change their fortunes as they are currently placed second from the bottom of the Azerbaijan Premier League having collected just 22 points after 26 games.

Things don’t get better for Kapaz as they have a tie against leaders Qarabag FK in their next game before taking bottom club Sabail in a fortnight.
