A Lautaro Martinez first-half strike is all Inter Milan needed to overcome arch-rivals AC Milan in the Milan derby staged on Sunday.

Inter came into the match a better side that their rivals who have struggled to replicate the performances that saw them win the Serie A title last season.

In the match, Milan goalkeeper Ciprian Tătăruşanu was kept on his toes as a result – making two saves to keep things deadlocked during the opening half an hour but the pressure was eventually too much when World Cup winner Lautaro Martínez continued his red-hot form and scored his 12th Serie A goal for 1-0.

Milan tried to respond in the second half due to Inter’s sluggish but despite having a handful of chances to restore parity and even win the game, Inter held on to beat their arch-rivals to claim the Milan bragging rights.

Inter sit second in the table, three above Roma, while Milan registered their third league defeat in a row and sits sixth.
