Gor Mahia new head coach Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto has revealed that his main aim is to make history with the club after taking over the reins officially on Sunday.
Pinto arrives to replace Oliviera who left the club owing to his qualification papers that saw him barred from leading the team in CAF Champions League and according to the Portuguese, his was to ensure that the team makes it to the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.
“I have a bit of experience in Africa having worked in Angola and Ethiopia where I have played in the CAF Confederations Cup and the CAF Champions League.
“I am very proud to be here at Gor Mahia because it is a big club and of course I want to achieve big things and make history with the club. I want to win games in the league and put Gor Mahia in the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.,” the Portuguese told the club media team.
The tactician further revealed that he has enough time to study their opponents in CAF (Napsa Stars) but insisted that he had to first analyze his team ahead of the season.
“The time (to their game against Napsa) is not that much but it us enough to analyze our opponents. But first I have to analyze our team and put the focus in training, focus and players if we are to achieve things together.
“I am young and ambitious and I want my team to be ambitious too. If you don’t put big goals in your job you can’t do big things. I want to win trophies here too,” he added.
Pinto has a chance to see what he has at his disposal when his charges take on Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday at the MISC Kasarani.
