Mathare United head coach John Kamau has called for more from his players after their first draw in this season’s SportPesa Premier League.
The Slum Boys were held to a 0-0 draw against Tusker FC in the clash at the Dandora Stadium on Wednesday and according to Kamau, his team failed to build on the momentum they gained after Tusker win in Round Two.

“It’s always important to build on momentum, especially coming from a big win against KCB. We should have built on that, but we have lost two points today, nothing to celebrate on the draw since we had created many scoring chances,” he said in his post-match interview.
The tactician while admitting that they out to have performed better revealed that midfielder John Macharia was not fully fit despite playing the match and would miss upcoming matches, “I do not think John Macharia has fully healed from injury, and I think he should continue with rehabilitation,” Kamau said
Kamau further praised Elly Asieche, stating the player has continued to deliver as a striker despite being played out of position but called for patience as he works on fielding Dennis Okoth, a striker signed from Shabana FC.
“Asieche has delivered; he has played three games and scored two. Okoth just came from Shabana; it is a work in progress, and we just need to be patient with him,” he added.
Attention for Kamau and team now shifts to their next game where they will be up against a winless Kariobangi Sharks in the Slum Derby.
