Benni McCarthy celebrates his birthday today. We take a look at his record with Harambee Stars.

Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy is celebrating his 48th birthday today having been born in South Africa on this day in 1977.

McCarthy was handed the reigns of the Kenyan national team earlier in the year and has gone to endear himself to most fans due to his pragmatic approach to games.

The UEFA Champions League winner has so far overseen 13 games (in all competitions) winning 6, losing 4 and recording a draw in 3.

His first game in charge of the team, having taken over Firat, came in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier where he recorded a 3-3 draw against the Gambia in March 2025 with his last being against Ivory Coast in the same competition where Stars went 0-3 down.

The South African star shone bright in the African Nation Championship (CHAN) where he led Kenya to the quarterfinals of the competition before losing to Madagascar in extra time.
