Michael Olunga and his Kashiwa Reysol team will resume training on November 18 this according to the club.

 

The club has been out of action since November 3 after it was reported that there was a large scale of positive cases in the team; the team forced to shut its training ground as well as their academy to combat the set back.

 

The club then headed into quarantine in a hotel in Chiba Prefecture for 10 days this after their Brazilian coach Nelsinho Baptista was named among 15 people who had tested positive for the virus in their camp.

 

In a tweet, the club confirmed that they will be returning to training with Baptista expected to be part of the session.

 

“Practice will resume on the 18th!!! Nelsinho is likely to come back,” the tweet noted.

Kashiwa occupies position 10 with 41 points from 26 matches in the 18-team league. Their league matches against Vegalta Sendai (November 3 and Oita Trinita (November 14), as well as Levain Cup final against FC Tokyo (November 7), were postponed due to the cases of coronavirus.

 

With a return to training, the team has been slated to host Sagan Tosun at the Kashiwa Stadium on November 25 this after the international break.

 

The club’s last match before going into quarantine came against Shimizu S-Pulse; the game ending in a scoreless draw-Olunga not featuring in the game.

 

The quarantine setback saw the team refuse to release Olunga for Harambee Stars doubleheader against Comoros this international week with Stars having been held to an a1-1 draw at Kasarani on Wednesday.
