A statement from the club noted, “The 45-year-old German takes over the reins of the Wolfpack with immediate effect and is tasked with leading the Wolves back to success. The Kurdish-born coach managed Kapfenberger SV last season, guiding the Falcons to a third-place finish after a challenging campaign, earning him the 2. Bundesliga Coach of the Year award.

“Nevertheless, Atalan left Kapfenberger SV at the end of the season due to differences in sporting objectives, at his own request.”

Atalan who will lead his first training session as head coach of the Wolves on Thursday said,” I am very happy to return to Austria and to be the new coach of Wolfsberger AC. The talks with the president were very constructive and also gave me a very good feeling on a personal level. I am looking forward to getting to know the lads personally and getting started together with the Wolfpack.”

The tactician joins a club who are currently placed in fourth place on the log with 21 points after 13 games just four off leaders RB Salzburg. His first league test will be away to Altach after the FIFA International break.
