Premier Leagues side Chelsea FC has confirmed Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach at the start of next season on a two year contract.

The Chelsea job had felt vacant following the sacking of Graham Potter with Frank Lampard installed to steady the ship until the end of the season.

A statement from the club noted: “Chelsea Football Club is pleased to confirm Mauricio Pochettino will become head coach of the men’s team from the beginning of the 2023/24 season.”

The 51-year-old has several seasons of Premier League experience in addition to coaching in Spain and France. He was most recently in charge at Paris Saint-Germain and guided the club to a Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de France.

The Argentine staff will include Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez and Sebastiano Pochettino.

Meanwhile, Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti has confirmed that he is leaving the Partenopei at the end of the season despite winning the Serie A title for the club for the first time in 33 years.

“Sometimes, you part ways due to too much love. I will not stay, I’m leaving. [There is] No way to change my mind. I told the club that I need a year off few weeks ago. I will not work at any other club. I’ll rest for one year,” Spalletti was speaking to reporters at ‘Inside the Sport 2023’.
