“It is something I thank God for because only He can make it happen. It’s something I have always wanted to achieve. In the end, it’s all because of God. I am very happy,” he retorted.
United secured their historic qualification after defeating Tunisia’s Étoile Sportive du Sahel 7-6 on penalties, following a 2-2 aggregate draw over two legs and according to Buregeya the team’s success has been because of unity and strong leadership.
“We achieved this because the team is united both on and off the pitch, and we have a good coach. God helps those who work together,” he added.
Buregeya has represented Rwanda at various levels, including the U17, U20, and U23 national teams, captaining each, and has also featured for the senior team, Amavubi.
Apart from Nairobi United, at club level, he has previously played for APR FC and AS Kigali in his native Rwanda. He began his football journey in 2015 with Eagles Academy, later joining Intare Academy and then APR Academy, before being promoted to the senior APR FC team.
