Police FC defender Abud Omar shields the ball from Felix Oluoch of Gor Mahia. Oluoch was one of the scorers as Gor beat Police to go top of the table

Gor Mahia went on top of the Sportpesa League after a 2-0 win over Kenya Police FC in a league match staged at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday 9th November 2025.

Even before the game could settle, Felix Oluoch put Gor ahead after being put through by Ghanaian import Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw; the offseason recruit from Posta Rangers tapping from close range to a huge cheer from the Gor fans.

The goal set the tempo for the game with Gor being unlucky of getting a second goal when David Ochuoga headed wide having connected well to an inch perfect delivery by Austin Odhiambo from a free kick.

Gor were not to be denied in the 32nd minute when defender Sylvester Owino showed his passing ability by pulling a split through the Police backline for Musa Shariff who lobbed the ball past the onrushing Job Ochieng, who had raced off his line to thwart the danger, for Gor’s second.

With two goal down at half time, Police FC head coach Dusan Stojanovic brought on David Simiyu and Clinton Kinanga for Samuel Ayarinde and Tobias Otieno in the second half as he sought for a comeback. The changes seem to have added the home side some impetus with Erick Zakayo blazing an effort over the bar having dribbled his way to the Gor Mahia box.

Simiyu was to be set by David Okoth minutes later but his header wasn’t strong enough to trouble Byrne Omondi in the Gor Mahia goal. Simiyu’s danger continued through the half with defender Michael Kibwage getting booked for stopping him off his tracks but despite the pressure, Gor held on for a win that sent them to the top of the table.

The move was aided by Murangá Seal who left it late to draw Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu in another game that was payed earlier in the day.
