Sportpesa League round 14 continues on Monday

The Sportpesa League round 14 continues on Monday with teams looking to change their fortunes on the table.

The first game of the day will be at Awendo Stadium where Mara Sugar will be hosting Murang’a Seal from 1pm. The visitors are unbeaten in their last 8 games but they should be worried in the number of draws in those games having gone even in 6.

Mara have won two of their last three games but are wary of their Monday opponents who they drew in their two meetings last season. The home side however won against Seal in the Mozzart Bet Cup last campaign.

In Awendo, Mara Sugar FC face Murang’a Seal FC in a clash that promises plenty of intrigue.

Seal arrives with the longest unbeaten run in the league, having gone eight matches without defeat. However, six of those games ended in draws, leaving them just two points above the relegation zone.

Mara Sugar, on the other hand, have shown resilience against top sides, winning two of their last three matches, away against Mathare United, at home against Kariobangi Sharks, and holding Shabana FC to a draw in Gusii.

Last season, both league meetings ended in draws, while Seal edged Mara Sugar 1-0 in the Mozzart Bet Cup third-place playoff.

In another enticing game of the day, Kakamega Homeboyz will host Kenya Police FC from 3PM at Bukhungu Stadium.

Both teams arrive in the match on a back of a loss. Homeboyz went down 1-0 to Gor Mahia, while Police FC were handed a similar loss by Seal. Homeboyz won this fixture last season and will be keen to replicate thay outing against a Police side who are placed sixth with 21 points from 12 matches, while Homeboyz are eighth on 20 points after 13 games.

At Kasarani Annex, troubled Sofapaka FC will host Kariobangi Sharks from 3pm. This game has a lot at stake as both teams occupy the last teo positions on the table.

Sofapaka are winless in their last six games and with Sharks winning their last tie, they’ll fancy their chances as they seek to redeem the team from relegation fears.

Sofapaka picked four points from this fixture last season and a win on Monday should help them narrow the gap between them and the teams around them.

The other match will see Ulinzi Stars host Posta Rangers with the visitors keen on going to with the hosts keen on improving from their 15th position in the league.
