Ulinzi Stars came from a goal down to beat Sofapaka 3-1 in the Sportpesa League

Paul Okoth scored a brace as Ulinzi Stars came from a goal down to beat Sofapaka FC 3-1 in a Sportpesa League game staged at Kasarani Annex on Monday afternoon.

After going down to Bandari in their last game, Sofapaka looked like a team ready to make amends when they took the lead in the sixth minute through Doughlas Kibet.

The goal seems to have given them the much needed moral to trouble Ulinzi as two minutes later Joseph Koluba unleashed a fierce left-footed effort that narrowly missed the target. But Ulinzi werent willing to ait back and watch the proceedings with Bildad Abonga almoat restoring parity aft3r connecting well to a Boniface Muchiri delivery.

Ulinzi’s constant prob was rewarded in the 25th minute when Masita Masuta restored parity after reacting fastest inside the six-yard box to slide the ball past Edward Olak to level matters. With matters leveled at the break, Ulinzi came for the second half a changed team.

Okoth was to give the soldiers the lead immediately afte resumption when a poorly cleared ball in Sofapaka’s area fell kindly to him; the towering striker didnt require any second invitation as he fired home for a 2-1 lead. The lively Boniface Muchiri nearly extended the advantage with a powerful 25-yard free-kick that missed the target by a whisker.

Okoth was to secure the points for the Stephen Ochola side fiften minutes from time when Masita brilliantly shook off his marker before delivering a pinpoint cross that him that he headed home for his brace.

The win will be a boost for coach Ochola who won his previous game against APS Bomet and who will now head into their clash against Bandari with an aim of making it three wins on the trot. Attention for Sofapaka now turns to their clash against a struggling APS Bomet side who have a date against Gor Mahia on Tuesday.
